The 2008 NIC Annual Conference will be held at the Snow King Resort in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, October 25-27.

Snow King Resort is located in the Town of Jackson, at the base of Snow King Mountain and is close to shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. Local area attractions include the Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and much more.

The annual conference of the National-Interstate Council of States Boards of Cosmetology (NIC) will be held October 25-27, 2008. Please mark these dates on your calendar and begin making your plans to attend the conference this year.

Our host for the conference is the Wyoming Board of Cosmetology. We thank the Board for inviting us to hold the conference this year in the great state of Wyoming.

The conference site is the Snow King Resort in Jackson Hole, WY. The guest room rates for single, double, triple and quad accommodations are $115/$125/$135/$145 respectively, plus applicable taxes. Reservations must be guaranteed to a major credit card and a one-night deposit is due at the time a reservation is made. The cut-off date for making reservations is Friday, September 19. To receive the conference rate attendees must identify that they are with the Council when making reservations. For reservations call (800) 522-5464.

There are three (3) airline connections into Jackson. Delta has daily flights connecting through Salt Lake City, UT. United Express and Frontier have daily flights connecting through Denver, CO..

President LaFaye Austin appointed Dr. Richard DeCarlo and Marti Frazier to Co-chair the Education Committee this year. The Committee is planning an outstanding education program. The education agenda will include open forums to discuss current regulatory issues and structured programs on technical topics recommended for this year’s conference. Networking will also be a valuable part of the conference experience as you meet board members and administrators from across the nation to share ideas and learn from others' experiences.

A function agenda follows to assist you in planning your schedule. A registration packet and other pertinent information about the conference will be sent to all state board offices and honorary members by August 4th.

The NIC conference in Jackson Hole, Wyoming is the place to be October 25-27, 2008.

Recommendations for proposed bylaw amendments

In accordance with the procedures of the NIC, recommendations for proposed changes to the bylaws must be submitted in duplicate form and received by the chairman of the Bylaws Committee and the General Counsel of NIC no later than 45 days prior to the annual conference. Any member who plans to propose amendments to the bylaws must submit one copy of the proposed amendments to Wendell Petersen at 8945 Paintbrush Lane, Missoula, MT 59808. The duplicate copy of the proposal must be sent to O. Wayne Corley, McNair Law Firm, PO Box 11390, Columbia, SC 29211.
